Warm, comfortable, durable, works great against winter winds

I picked this wool liner because we have bitter cold winters and I need insulation under my construction and arborist/hiking helmets. The liner is extremely well made from soft, comfortable merino wool with strong cross-stitching (Images 1 thru 3) that stretches without separating. It's basically a full surround skull cap (Image 5) with ear flaps and ribbons (Image 3) that join the ears and chin straps as one. Both of my helmets have air gaps and the liner does a perfect job keeping the sweat in, away from the wind and freezing cold support straps. Also the ear flaps have small air-flow holes so I can hear normally without howling/whistling wind sounds and still keep my ears warm. I've been using mine for a couple weeks and have not washed it yet but all my other wool caps/beanies come clean with a dip in cold water, little soap and some lite scrubbing. Does a great job getting rid of sweat stains, dust/dirt and other grime without shrinking or ruining the stitching. The material itself is thick enough that I barely feel the straps when the helmet is ratcheted down tight. Over all this is a great liner, it should hold up to a lot of wear and tear and keep your head warm.

Well made wool winter cap - a little small for my head, although very warm overall

This Merino wool winter cap is of very nice quality. The design is excellent, with perforations to improve hearing and nice form fitting for the top of the head. It fits inside of my Land climbing helmet very well, and has supports where it attaches securely to the helmet. The thickness of the wool definitely improves warmth and safety. The only problem that I ran into is that this winter cap is not large enough for my head. I have a fairly big head, but the helmet fits without any problem, so I thought that this winter cap should fit as well. I cannot get the winter cap to cover my ear lobes completely. A little larger size would help a lot.Overall, I am happy with this winter cap and will continue to use it, as it functions well and is designed for my helmet.

    Land winter helmet liner

This is a review of the land helmets winter cap insert.I do own a Land safety helmet and occasionally wear it in winter so I expect this to have been a perfect addition to my safety equipment. However the first thing I noticed is it is quite small. I usually wear a 7 and 1/2 to 7 and 5/8 hat. I would equate this liner to a 7 and 1/4 to 7 and 3/8 head size. I'm hoping I can stretch it out to fit my head.I don't believe this is 100% Merino wool as others have said however I do think it is a fleece material inside and out with a foam liner. It is warm. What I really liked about this liner is that it was thin enough to fit inside of my land helmet. I also know that at each ear covering there are cut out holes to allow for proper hearing access. The cap also has a piece of elastic on each side where one can thread their helmet strap through to secure the liner inside of the helmet. The overall design and quality of sewing craftsmanship is very good. Just be aware it's going to be tight if you have a larger head.

    Warm and soft

Very nice, thick and warm without being too hot. Fit my husband well but was a bit too large for me. It's a good fit under his ski helmet and he already took it skiing twice in 20 deg. F and said it was great and wore it under a work helmet for being outside all day. Love the warm ear flaps with straps to lace helmet chin straps through. Stays in place without bunching or shifting. Merino wool means not having to constantly wash this after every use but I will wash on cold and hang to dry due to the wool. Not at all scratchy- just soft. I'd get another for myself if they made this in a smaller size.

    Nice and comofrtable

Nice and comfortable, which is exactly what I wanted. This winter cap fits cleanly inside the helmet without adding bulk, and it stays warm without feeling stuffy. The merino wool interior is soft and does a great job regulating temperature, even during long periods outside. The outer shell blocks wind and moisture well, keeping it dry rather than damp or heavy. Installation is quick with the Velcro system, and it replaces the interior padding securely with no shifting.Overall, an easy 5‑star award for a warm, comfortable helmet liner that installs fast and performs well in cold conditions

Warm and low profile—fits well under my LAND and Petzl helmets

This wintercap has been a solid upgrade for cold days out in the trees. It fits perfectly under both my LAND and Petzl helmets without messing up the fit or feeling bulky. The merino wool keeps things warm without making me sweat, and it doesn't soak up moisture like some synthetic liners do. It’s low profile and stays put, which makes it ideal when you're moving around all day.One heads-up—it's definitely on the snug side. I wear about a 7-1/4 hat (roughly 58–59cm), and it's a good fit for me, but if your head runs bigger, it might feel tight. Still, for how well it insulates and fits under gear, it’s a great piece of kit for cold-weather work
